Top Wedding Trends For 2017

Hello and happy New Year from the team at Northbrook Park! After a fabulous season of festive weddings and fantastic New Year’s parties, we could not be more ready for a brand new year.

One of our absolute favourite things about a new year is the new wedding trends that come along with it. If you’re discussing the finishing touches of your own 2017 wedding, then this is the guide for you. Here are a few of the trends that we think will be coming to the fore over the next 12 months.

Giving

It’s 2017 and we think it’s fair to say that a good chunk of couples already live together before they decide to make the commitment of marriage. With that in mind, this year, couples are going to be opting out of the traditional gift lists in lieu of charitable donations to organisations that are close to their hearts.

Look up

Often when we think of wedding decor, we think about table and chair decorations; however, in 2017, our advice to you is to look up. Lanterns and twinkly lights are going to reign supreme this year, which is fantastic news in our opinion as they add effortless atmosphere. When it comes to centrepieces, we’re also expecting to see much taller and more elaborate designs than we were used to in 2016.

Less formality

Of course, we know that weddings are all about tradition. From the proposal to the exchanging of rings, there are some things that are just part and parcel of a wedding and that we’d miss if they weren’t there. However, this year, we’re expecting to see more parents walking down the aisle (both Mum and Dad, one on either side) and we think that reception dining will be a little more relaxed as well – think late-night dessert options for the early morning revellers.

If you’re looking for a venue that can seamlessly combine the traditional with the modern, then arrange to visit Northbrook Park. Combining a stunning manor house and picturesque grounds, we feel certain that you’ll fall in love with its old-world elegance yet still be able to make use of any 2017 trends that you wish to.
