Wedding Themes for Summer

We all know that the summer is a popular time to tie the knot – and, really, it’s not hard to see why. The sun has started to shine over Northbrook Park’s lush green grounds over the past weeks, spirits have been high, and everybody is in a celebratory mood.

So, if you’re thinking of planning a summer wedding for next year (or need some last-minute inspiration for this year), then fear not – here are some of our favourite themes for summer weddings and some ideas for how to successfully pull them off.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream
If you’re a lover of the literary, then this is the wedding theme for you. We’re not suggesting you kit yourselves out in traditional costume, but instead think of floaty fabrics, pastels, delicate calligraphy, candles, lanterns, quotes decorating your reception room, and naming your tables after Shakespeare’s plays. A theme doesn’t have to mean that you go over the top – just pick your favourite elements and utilise them effectively.

Rustic chic
The key with a rustic summer wedding is that you want it to feel relaxed without being contrived – no mean feat to pull off, we know! The setting helps create this, and Northbrook Park’s natural beauty is a great starting point. From there, think about your colour palette – we suggest deep oranges, reds and purples. When it comes to dining, summer and rustic go hand in hand. Think big sharing plates of fresh salad, followed by light mains of fish, washed down with homemade elderflower fizz.

Alice in Wonderland
We know this one is a bit of a curveball, but hear us out! If you’ve loved Alice in Wonderland since you were a child, then we think it’s the ideal theme for a summer wedding. Afternoon tea is such a quintessentially English summer indulgence – include it in your day by offering cream tea as a dessert option, or how about naming your menu after items from the Mad Hatter’s tea party? The ‘eat me’ and ‘drink me’ labels are so easy to incorporate into your décor, and adding splashes of purple and whimsical props will transform your venue.

So, there we have it! Just three of our favourite summer themes – we hope they’ve given you some inspiration.

The most important thing when planning a wedding is that you have a great starting point to work with – that’s where Northbrook Park comes in. The venue looks as good in the summer sun as it does in the crisp winter air. To find out more and arrange a tour, get in touch.
